As for me, I sure had my reason.I was a 50 year old MEDICAL ASSISTANT. ,sick of working a 9-5 job, no vacation time no sick time . PLANNING YOUR ESCAPE
Outline your goals. As you are making plans for your business, it is important that you evaluate your long-term goals. You will need to determine if you intend to stick with your current job, and keep your business as a part-time project, or if you want to develop your business to the point that you can quit your job. Having a good idea of what your long-term goals are will help you get a better idea of what you will need to invest in your business in terms of time and money.- For example, if you want to quit your full-time job, you need to think about how long you will need to continue working there before you have enough money to branch off on your own.
- Ask yourself if you really want your second business to be your full-time career or if it's something you'd rather do on the side as a passion project?
- Determine what kind of business you want to be in. Is it an extension of a longtime hobby, something else you are both interested in and qualified for, or is it a market opportunity you have discovered? If you are not excited about the business and enjoy it, it will be harder to succeed. read more
Figuring Out the Logistics:
Computer Documents – If you have personal documents, email a copy of each to your personal email address or save them online. Then, delete the files from your office computer.
Decide if you can quit and then look, or if you need to look while keeping your job. It is generally better to keep your job while looking. This will keep you in touch with industry contacts that can help you get a job, and most firms prefer to hire people who are currently employed. However, there are reasons to quit without another job lined up:
Cultivate your network, but don’t post on job boards or on social media. Even co-workers who are not part of your online social networks may be checking your profile.Instead, use your professional network more discretely
Don’t use current co-workers or supervisors are references, and let prospective employers know to keep your search confidential. You don’t want your boss learning about your search from someone calling to check a reference. If your only references are from your current job:
Maintain a positive attitude at work. It is easy for enthusiasm to slip once you begin a job search, but if you do not continue to work hard and complete work on time, people will take notice.
Prepare the resignation letter.
This isn’t always required, but if so, keep it short, concise, and gracious. Don’t use this as the time to write down your laundry list of complainants. Get directly to the point on why you’re leaving and thank your employer for the opportunity that you have had under their management.
working a 9-5 job days are over you still need to find a way to pay your bills, right? There are actually lots of ways to make small amounts of money that you can use to support yourself.
